STATE of SEEING

The State of Seeing explores the fragile and powerful act of perception. The work asks a simple but unsettling question — what do we truly see, and what do we refuse to?

Familiar subjects are altered, displaced, recontextualized. What appears straightforward may reveal another narrative on closer attention. Symbols and references invite interpretation and doubt.

Words move through the work as they do in much of my painting — some visible at first glance, others partially buried in the layers. Signals, protests, questions, quiet confessions. Seeing, the work suggests, is never neutral
