SAKIORI
A traditional Japanese technique of rag weaving.
From saki — “to tear or rip” — and ori — “to weave.”
In my work, sakiori becomes more than restoration; it’s a dialogue between what was and what can be. Each piece begins with something once loved — a garment softened by time, shaped by someone’s everyday life. As I unravel its threads, I uncover quiet traces of memory: the rhythm of wear, the warmth of touch, the stories woven into its seams.
Through this process of renewal, I allow each fabric to find a new voice. The weave holds both past and present, familiar yet reimagined — a kind of modern heirloom, ready to begin again.
